September has been an exciting month at MakeOffices! We’ve just opened our largest coworking space in Philadelphia at 1635 Market Street, and have also added Logan Exchange to the MakeOffices family. We rolled out the MakeOffices Passport to give our members access to all of our locations, giving them the flexibility and convenience they need to meet, work, and collaborate.

We also had some exciting events at our 12 coworking and shared office spaces in Chicago, Philadelphia, and the DC metro area. Here are some of the highlights:

Team Rubicon at MakeOffices K Street

MakeOffices members Team Rubicon held an informative, exciting event highlighting their incredible work in international disaster relief while networking with members. They spoke about being on the front lines of relief efforts in Houston in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. We’re so proud to have them as members, and please donate to support their important work if you are able.

PHL Hubspot User Group and Philly Saas Meetup at MakeOffices Center City

We held a technology roundtable with various subject matter experts in social media, SEO, video, HubSpot, email, content marketing, podcasting, and more at the PHL Hubspost User group meetup. It was an informative session where both members and non-members could get some excellent tips and advice from leading digital marketing experts in the Philadelphia area.

Also, we were excited to host the Philly SaaS Meetup from MakeOffices member Daniel Gold of Webfolio Management. This was the last installment of his 4 part startup series that focused on how to fund your startup. Specific topics included:

-whether or not you should look for funding in the first place

-the different types of funding, and which one is right for you (private equity, venture capital)

-how to find a potential investor

-how much funding do you need

-key metrics to look out for.

How Workplace Design Helps Workers Find Meaning – MakeOffices 17th & Market

We held our first event in our newest, and largest coworking space in Philadelphia at MakeOffices 17th & Market! It was an informative discussion focusing on the emergence purpose-driven employee. We explored  how employers can imbue work with meaning and brought together perspectives from workplace strategy, architecture, and innovation-leading communications and pharmaceuticals companies, while opening up to broader questions of how design can help organizations provide for employee experiences that are enriching, fulfilling, and productive. A special shout out to Emily McVeigh, our Director of Design & Construction, who was a panelist!

Town Hall – Ladies Negotiate – MakeOffices River North

Our friends at Ladies Get Paid put together a Town Hall that covered how to prepare, what to say, and the best way to present yourself when asking for a raise in your current role or interviewing for a new job.

Intro to the Chicago Startup Community, Understanding Openness, MAKE Women’s Meetup – MakeOffices at the Loop

Our partner General Assembly held an orientation to help newcomers to the  startup scene get acquainted with the exciting world of tech in Chicago. They delivered the inside scoop on key events/meetups to attend, people, companies, VCs, blogs, incubators, programs, hot issues, and more.

Understanding Openness is a new community of practice exploring the ideas of openness as they manifest across contexts – from the Internet to learning environments to games, and more.

We also held the first meetup for all the amazing woman who work at MakeOffices in Chicago. It was a great way for the community to come together and share ideas.

September was an exciting month for us, and we hope it was great for you as well.
